I challenge you to commit…” A Random Act of Kindness” once a day, at least.  An act of Kindness can change a person’s whole world depending on their state of mind.  Here are some practical examples:  Smile or greet one person you do not know, help someone cross the road, pay for someone’s groceries, buy the person behind you in the queue a sweet or chocolate.  Tell someone at your place of work to have a fabulous day (and mean it).  Acts of Kindness become infectious.  It might even possibly change your mood for the day.  You automatically become more positive.

Start with being grateful for waking up and take it from there. Positivity begets positivity.  AND, don’t give up.  Keep committing a “Random Act of Kindness” every day for 21 days in a row and it will surely become a habit.  I hope you are feeling more positive after reading this [read more]

The term has started at a good pace and is progressing well. Our learners have settled and are working hard towards the next target, namely the June exams. These are our formal exams which will cover both Term 1 and Term 2 work. It is important that all tasks and assignments are well done and handed in on time in order for us to get the best return on our hard work.  Our learners need to work consistently at reaching the goals that they have set for themselves.

Our exam dates will be shared with learners and parents shortly, but we can expect the exams to take place from around the 31st of May to the 15th of June. Time is of the essence and we cannot afford to waste any time. We need to set up those study programs, cut down on social activities over weekends, and set aside the time needed for studying.

If any of our learners are having a difficult time knowing how to study, how to organize their time efficiently, or feel overwhelmed please do not let them hesitate to come and see me so that we can find a way of helping them. [read more]

What does it mean to be a hero?

Does it mean that a person should put on a cape, wear a mask, and prowl at night to fight crime when no one else will? Or does it mean that you need to be bitten by a radioactive spider, have the ability to summon lightning at will, or perhaps fly?

When you hear the word “hero”, you automatically think of the kinds of heroes who have powers or incredible amounts of money that could buy them all the gadgets they could ever want. However, it should not have to be this way.

Heroes are people who help someone up when they have fallen, instead of laughing at them fall. Heroes are people who share their lunch with someone who did not have enough food to eat that day. Heroes are people who speak a kind word to someone who has had a bad day. To be a hero means to recognise that someone needs something, and to do something about it.[read more]

It is the end of the term and time for you and your children to put away the schoolbooks and just relax for a little while. It is time for our learners to reflect on what has happened this past term and on what they would like to see happen in the future months. It is time to celebrate their successes and let go of all their failures. It is time to just be, to rest, to reflect, and to dream.

What do you want to achieve? Where do you want to see yourself by the end of next term? How would you like to feel when you open your next report?

These little things seem very trivial right now, but our children are going to see their importance at some point in their life.

My personal motto in life is: If I can think it, I can achieve it! What is your motto for your life?

How do you face the future and plan to be all that you can be? You do realize your future has very little to do with anyone else…it is all up to you and what you dream your life to be. It is about finding the picture that fits you and your needs and when you have that picture in your mind then you go ahead and work towards fulfilling that dream. You have everything you need to achieve your dreams on the inside, just go inward and you will find your answers. [read more]

Thank goodness for long weekends and holidays! It is time to relax a little and just simply breathe. On the Christian calendar, we celebrate Easter, which is symbolic of new life. With new life we have hope.

An egg of any type allows us that feeling of hope just before we break it open, whether it is for cooking or munching purposes. Hope is a word we have held on to and it has gotten us this far in 2021. It is a time of reflection and a time to be reminded of just how far we have come.

Here are some mottos to memorise as we tackle the second quarter of the year:

  1. The past can’t be changed.
  2. Everyone’s journey is different.
  3. Happiness is found within.
  4. Smiles are contagious.
  5. Kindness is free.
  6. Things always get better with time.
  7. It’s okay to let go and move on.

As the term draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on knowledge. We are all familiar with the saying: “Knowledge is power”, but I am here to challenge that. Knowledge is not power.

Having knowledge means nothing without applying it. For example, having all the knowledge about the best diets in the world will mean nothing if you do not apply it to your own lifestyle.

We are bombarded with knowledge from every side. Be it from the teachers, the TV, or social media. There is a constant overflow of information coming our way, but what are we doing with it?

My challenge to you is to start using what you learn. Apply the relevant knowledge to your life and you will see positive change!

Plutarch put it this way: “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.” We need to take our knowledge and do something with it. Otherwise, there is no point in constantly taking in more knowledge. [read more]

Remember: Knowledge is not power. Applied knowledge is power!

As we draw closer and closer to the end of the term; it is a time to reflect on all the good that has happened thus far, and the bad that we have had to overcome.

Many people have had to opt for new ways of doing things to match this new way of life we find ourselves in now. The learners have also had to overcome many challenges this term and have shown great promise and success while doing so.

As the journey of this year continues, here is something to remember: [read more]

This term has gone by so fast and we are in our last stretch. We have gone through many changes in the past few months and adjusting to our new way of living has been tough. Here is something to remember moving forward with the new way of life.

“It is important to remember that we are energy. Einstein told us that. And energy cannot be created or destroyed, it just changes form.” – Rhonda Byrne [read more]

As we draw closer to the end of our first term, we start to realize now more than ever that not only does time fly but also that every second counts. The beginning of this week marked the start of our test series for the term, which parents, learners, and educators have geared up for in preparation to ensure that all goals set are met for this period.

Below I would like to leave the learners with a few motivational quotes as we continue and complete the term.

Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.

There are no limits to what you can accomplish, except the limits you place on your own thinking.

Your positive action combined with positive thinking results in success. [read more]

There was a farmer who grew excellent quality corn. Every year, he won the award for the best-grown corn. One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it.

The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbours. “How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbours when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?” the reporter asked. [read more]
