Another week has come and gone with E-learning. We are proud of our learners for coping well with the technology and keeping up with all the work. Remember to stay healthy as well through eating correctly and exercise. Also, work on having good posture during lessons. Some learners are sitting on the floor or bed. We would like them to have a proper work station for doing school work. Thank you to all the parents who have provided their children with this. [read more]

For those of you that are not familiar with it, a seed is first securely wrapped in cotton wool followed by regular watering. Regular checking on the bean occurs during this incubation period, every millimetre of growth is celebrated, and the plant is moved from place to place to ensure perfect conditions. Finally, the day dawns when the fragile little plant will need to be planted outside and in time the nurturing hands of the gardener will push a firm stake into the ground to ensure it has the support needed to increase in size. With the news of a further lockdown extension, until the end of April, it is even more important now for us to keep up with the e-learning that is taking place. Our learners have really taken very well to it and we are seeing some very positive work coming from it.
It is however important for us to keep an eye on discipline, and this is where we need you to assist us please. Learners are following their normal timetable and we need them to be in all their classes on time and ready to work. We are in Day 1 of the National lockdown! Two deaths have been recorded in the WC and the CoronaVirus infections have risen to just over 1000. Many people find themselves in a state of fear and uncertainty, which is normal for the time we are living in, but this too shall pass and life as we knew it will return to a new normal.
We are not sure at this point of exactly how long the lockdown will last or if it will be extended past the 16th of April. What we do know is that as promised, Riverside College is ready to start rolling out the E-Learning initiative that has been put in place for the learners and teachers. After much deliberation we have decided to go with Microsoft Teams because it supports the platforms that we need in order to ensure that we can continue with our academic objectives in an efficient manner.
