So we have come to the end of Term 2 and what an experience it was. It has been a big challenge for everyone: learners, parents and teachers. Nonetheless, we took e-learning by the horns and we conquered this challenging way of teaching and learning. We thank all the learners for doing their part as well as all the parents who took the time to get involved and helping their children. We can now enjoy a well-deserved break. As the exams have drawn to a close for the learners in the Primary School, things can finally wind down and everyone can eagerly wait for their results. The last two weeks have been very successful with regards to ensuring the safety of all learners at Riverside from the morning temperature checks to the break time social distancing measures. We would just like to commend all the learners for being absolutely wonderful by following the safety protocols like champions. [read more]

It has been a term of learning and anxiety. From being at home permanently, to juggling work, family, school and some form of entertainment for everyone at home.  We have learnt not to go shopping so often and to enjoy the simpler things in life.  That got us thinking about our lives as children. Sometimes children forget that their teachers were, in fact, children and that we got up to all sorts of  interesting things as well. [read more]

Newsletter – Nr.20 – 05 June 2020 – Seniors

Please remember that we are busy with our official June exams and if your child is not going to be attending school on the days that they are scheduled to write you need to send us an email excusing him/her from the exam. We cannot let your child write an exam after the said exam has already been written as this brings the integrity of the exam into question. If we know in time that your child will be absent from an exam, we can schedule the exam on Teams, but this will have to be at the same time that the rest of the grade is writing. [read more]

As we get to the end of week 8 of E-learning and learners are preparing for the upcoming assessments and exams we would like to share a sincere thank you to all learners, parents and teachers. We all had to learn a different way of learning and teaching very fast. We have shown that we can do anything we put our minds to when the goal is clear and we want to achieve. Newsletter – Nr.19 – 29 May 2020 – Seniors

This is a story of two friends who were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand;

“Today my best friend slapped me in the face.”

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone;

“Today my best friend saved my life.”

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him;

“After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?” [read more]
